  • Life Transitions

Has your life been touched by a major event, or is there one coming your way? Are you having a hard time moving through and past the emotional turmoil? Do you feel completely stuck and like you need guidance getting back on track?

There’s no denying that life often presents us with more than our fair share of challenges, usually in the form of sudden change. These life transitions, even the positive ones, can throw us into a tailspin and leave us feeling stressed, confused, and vulnerable. But with the right tools and mindset, you have the power to not only overcome any adversity but also transform into a more authentic and confident version of yourself.

    Change Can be Beneficial

Change, even difficult change that is neither wanted nor expected, can influence personal growth. Life transitions give us the opportunity to see what we’re made of – to become stronger, more confident, and better prepared for what life throws at us next. With each new challenge, we develop new personal skills and obtain a greater awareness of ourselves, our families, and our communities. At Now in Colour, we embrace change as a catalyst.

Over the years, we have worked with many people, experiencing a range of life transitions.

These are some of the transitions we’ve helped people navigate:

    • Moving away for post-secondary
    • Adjusting to your first professional job
    • Moving in with your partner
    • Having a baby
    • Parenting
    • Care giving
    • Empty nest syndrome
    • Relationship changes
    • Breakup, separation, or divorce
    • Retirement
    • Job loss
    • Major career change (ie., adjusting to promotion, starting new role)
    • Grad. school or professional training
    • Returning from time abroad
    • Financial gain/loss
    • Serious illness or disability
    • Issues pertaining to aging
    • Death of a loved one
    • Questioning the meaning of life

Change equals loss, and loss equals grief

When we experience life changes, even positive changes, we are also likely to experience loss. The process of adapting to a loss can vary significantly from person to person, depending on their background, beliefs, current situation, and other factors.

Loss may precipitate grief, which is a natural human process involving physical, emotional, and social elements. Every grieving experience is different. A person may be able to continue their day-to-day routine after one loss, yet not be able to get out of bed after another loss. Whatever your personal symptoms are, we can support you through your process of adjusting to loss and grief.

Is it time to seek help?

Sometimes we can handle change and adversity by ourselves and sometimes we need a little help.

At Now in Colour, we’re here to lend that helping hand and offer a warm and encouraging environment where you can speak candidly and receive care, compassion, and guidance. We offer evidence-based strategies to manage the broad range of emotions that arise when life changes occur, helping you to maintain your functioning and thrive in the midst of significant challenge.
