My commitment to you: Through a combination of social work’s problem-solving approach and creative interventions, we will jointly and effectively work through your emotional and psychological challenges. The goal is to reduce your suffering and, as a therapist, I will guide and assist you in this process.
My belief: Everyone deserves peace and freedom from suffering.
My process: We will explore your day-to-day challenges and I will help you to draw on your own strengths and resilience – which you may, or may not have been, aware of. I help individuals and couples develop effective tools for coping, and I provide ongoing feedback about the individual and collective therapeutic process. In part, this is achieved by thought-provoking and creative exercises. I approach problems with compassion, understanding and without judgement – encouraging you to talk about your issues in a safe and confidential environment.
Theoretical orientation: I have 16-years experience as a social worker and have engaged with a broad range of client issues. The treatment modality depends on your unique situation. Together, we will explore and identify a solution that best works for you.Treatment plans are customized accordingly and draw from evidence-based theoretical approaches, treatment interventions, and specialized treatment modalities. These include the following:
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Padesky’s anxiety protocols
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
- Gottman’s approach to couples counselling
- Family systems therapy – Bowen Intergenerational and Salvador Minuchin’s Structural Family Therapy
My practice is guided by the Alberta College of Social Workers code of ethics and standards of practice and embraces diversity.
